Have you heard about aussiehome.com?
In just 5 months, this unique map-based web site for Perth real estate has
grown to showcase close on 1000 properties at any one time from almost 50
real estate agencies. On top of that, aussiehome.com walked off with the
Best e-commerce Award at the 2000 Yellow Pages Asia-Pacific IT&T Innovation
Awards.
As ex-Hale School commerce teacher and Co-Founder, Charlie Gunningham, says
"Winning the Award is the icing on the cake. The site's popularity
in terms of visitors and feedback has been fantastic. Uptake among real
estate agencies is strong, mainly due to our novel map-based approach and
the fact that we do the uploading and updating of the web site. We don't
expect agents to do this."
Aussiehome.com uses mapping technology formerly used in WA's resources industry
to help people search for properties. The site is loaded with unique features
including suburb price trend charts and an online directory for elderly
persons. Users can even buy sales data online which is updated weekly from
the Valuer Generals Office's 800,000 item database. An
|
amazing recent addition to the
site has been the virtual tours, where you can see 360-degree views of a
property, room by room. This involves specialist equipment to digitally
photograph the property, and these tours are proving a popular draw card
for the properties featured.
But the best part of the site is still the interactive map. It is truly
a world first, in that all the houses for sale or rent are displayed on
the map right alongside the local schools, sports centres and golf courses.
The challenge for aussiehome.com is to provide as many listings in the areas
covered, and to update these constantly. However, in the area they do cover
(Perth's mainly premier inner suburbs) they already show more up-to-date
properties than the competition. The company, though new has lofty goals.
You get the feeling aussiehome.com is going places...
