aussiehome.com's IT Manager, Amit Sethi, won the inaugural 'Early Career Awards' in the Computer Science category at a Gala Awards Night, held at the Parmelia Hilton.

From a highly competitive field of entries, Amit was awarded the prize for his work in developing aussiehome.com's in-house systems for their 100+ real estate business clients.

The judges' citation read:

"Amit began a Bachelor of Science majoring in Software Engineering in 2000 at ECU. During his studies he went on an exchange to Old Dominion University, USA , and then accepted a part-time programmer position with aussiehome.com.

Now IT Manager at Aussiehome.com, Amit deals with sensitive, confidential marketing information on a daily basis. His understanding of computing systems, combined with the ability to come up with creative and cost effective solutions, ensures the smooth running and maintenance of the complex, in-house built aussiehom.com system. A commitment to personal development and ongoing learning has also seen Amit enrol in an MBA at ECU."

In an initiative driven by Edith Cowan University, and sponsored by radio station 96FM, the WACA and Hollywood Private Hospital, nominees had to have graduated no more than five years ago and now be working their chosen profession. Eight categories were recognised, ranging from nursing and policing to advertising and public relations, with winners drawn from across WA.

aussiehome.com Director, Charlie Gunningham, who was there to see Amit receive his Award, commented afterwards: "This is great for Amit, who is both a fantastic programmer and someone who can help solve problems for our clients in a sensitive manner. We're all so proud of him!"
